SteamMaster Restoration and Cleaning, LLC and the Vail Valley displays Commitment to Environmental Sustainability during the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships
Beaver Creek, Colo. February 2, 2015 SteamMaster Restoration and Cleaning LLC proudly announces it has been awarded the Actively Green 2015 eco-certification from the global nonprofit Sustainable Travel International and local nonprofit partner Walking Mountains Science Center. The Vail Valley is a unique and beautiful place worth protecting both now and for future generations. With the opening of the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, SteamMaster poised to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability to visitors from around the world.
To become certified, each business attends a training and then completes 20 sustainability criteria, including a sustainability policy statement, pledges to monitor and reduce their energy and water use, increase their recycling, and to engage their employees in community volunteerism and philanthropy. All of the information is compiled using a customized online sustainability management system created by Sustainable Travel International to measure how we are collectively performing as a community.
“By engaging sustainability-minded local businesses we’re able to raise the bar on a community wide level. Walking Mountains Science Center would like to thank SteamMaster for being an Actively Green leader in Eagle County,” said Kim Langmaid, Vice President at Walking Mountains Science Center.
“SteamMaster is the first Restoration and Cleaning serving in Vail, Breckenridge, Aspen and the surrounding mountain resort communities to embark, participate and actively be a catalyst for change in the communities it serves,” said Raj Manickam, CEO at SteamMaster. “And we want to contribute to Vail’s community sustainability performance while finding ways to reduce cost, minimizing waste, increasing energy savings and lower consumption of resources.” Manickam added.
The Actively Green 2015 program will continue long after the 2015 Ski Championships.
“Vail is a great example of the progress and success that businesses and destinations can have when they harness the power of travel and tourism as a force for good,” added Brian T. Mullis, CEO and Founder of Sustainable Travel International.
