Cryogenic cleaning also known as “Dry Ice Blasting” is the most innovative, unique, and effective cleaning process we have found. Cryogenic blasting is a cleaning process where small, rice sized, particles of frozen carbon dioxide (dry ice) are propelled at high velocity to collide with and clean a surface. SteamMaster is proud to offer this environmental friendly and chemical free cleaning process. The blasting media sublimates upon impact leaving no messy media residue to clean up.

Mold Damage Restoration

Removing mold in tight attic and crawl spaces can be challenging. Using conventional wire brush scraping and sanding methods can be slow and tedious. SteamMaster has pioneered this cryogenic cleaning system in the Western Slope for decades and continues to utilize this effective method of mold remediation until today. Dry-Ice blasting is effective, efficient and innovative. Dry ice media blasting not only restores contaminated wood but reaches places that are otherwise impossible

Fire Damage Restoration

With considerable results throughout all emergency uses, it is safe to say cryogenic blasting has become a necessity. With the ability to use a medium that leaves behind no residue or left over medium to clean up, this allows our technicians to perform with optimal results.

Hard Surface Restoration

SteamMaster has successfully blasted certain types of hard surface to remove surface coatings and sealants. This would depend on the type of surface and will be evaluated by our team of hard surface experts. If blasting with dry ice is the best option we will let you know. Over the recent past there are several newer options with diamond grinding and polishing in the stone restoration industry that can be as equally effective.

How does Cryo blasting work?
Cryo blasting utilizes rice sized dry ice pellets that are dispersed through a machine, mixed with compressed air, and shot through a blasting hose to the work area. Engineered blasting nozzles increase the velocity of the ice impacting the surfaces being cleaned. The dry ice then sublimates upon contact with the surface and no media residue is left behind.
How much clean up is required after utilizing Cryo blasting?
There is very little cleanup because the dry ice evaporates after contact. A light residue of the material being cleaned or removed will settle onto nearby surfaces. Sometimes containment and HEPA filtered negative air are installed to minimize the clean up process.
What will Cryo blasting remove?
Cryo blasting will remove soot and char residue from fire damaged surfaces, ink, topical coatings, efflorescence, mold, and construction adhesives. Cryo cleaning is widely used in commercial and industrial applications to clean hard to reach or access areas around mechanical and electrical equipment without the use of liquids. Please call SteamMaster to ask specific questions about potential cleaning applications.
Is Cryo blasting harmful to the environment?
No. Because the dry ice sublimates on impact there is no toxic waste or chemicals involved.
